Water Extraction for Carpet, Floors and Cabinets

Water damage cleanup starts with extraction, the fastest way to cut drying time. Every gallon pulled out with pumps and extraction tools is a gallon the dehumidifiers don't have to pull out of your walls. We work room by room across Orange County, California, starting where the water is deepest.

After extraction, we check under the flooring, behind baseboards and inside cabinet toe kicks with moisture meters, since that's where water likes to hide.

Carpet, Pad and Hard Floors

  • Carpet: after a clean-water leak, carpet can often be dried in place. The pad underneath is usually replaced.
  • Laminate and engineered wood: water gets under the click joints, so boards usually come up to dry the subfloor.
  • Solid hardwood: may flatten after careful drying if it's caught early.
  • Tile: the tile is fine, but water under it and in nearby walls still needs drying.
  • Concrete slab: holds water for a long time and needs extended drying before new flooring goes down.

Water Removal Services for Every Room

In Orange County, CA homes, kitchens, laundry rooms and bathrooms see the most water calls because that's where the supply lines are. Under-sink cabinets, the wall behind a washer and the floor around a toilet get checked even when they look dry.

Burst pipe water damage can reach several rooms before anyone notices, especially overnight or while you're away. We follow the water into closets, hallways and the rooms below.

Clean Water or Dirty Water?

Clean water from a supply line is the easiest to clean up. Water from a dishwasher, washer or overflowing sink carries soap and food residue. Sewage and outside runoff carry bacteria, so anything porous they touched usually comes out and the area is disinfected.

Clean water doesn't stay clean for long. After a day or two in carpet and walls it picks up dirt and bacteria, one more reason to start extraction early. See the rest of our water damage help across Orange County if the job turns into more than cleanup.

Living With the Drying Equipment

Once the water is out, air movers and dehumidifiers usually run for several days. A few things help:

  • Leave the equipment on and in place, even overnight. Turning it off resets the clock.
  • Keep windows and doors closed so the dehumidifiers aren't fighting outside air.
  • Expect some noise and warmth in the room; plan where kids and pets will sleep.
  • Plug equipment in only where we set it up, so circuits don't trip.

We check readings during the drying period and move or remove equipment as each area dries.

Before You Book

How long does water extraction take?

Extraction is usually the quickest part of the job. Drying afterward takes several days, depending on the materials.

Can wet carpet be saved?

Often, if the water was clean and it's dried within a day or two. The pad underneath usually gets replaced, and carpet soaked by sewage is thrown out.

What does cleanup cost?

Typical water damage restoration jobs run about $1,400 to $6,400, and a small clean-water extraction lands near the low end.

Do I need to move the furniture?

No. We move it, block it up off the wet floor or carry it to a dry room.

Should I run fans myself?

Fans alone can push damp air into other rooms. Dehumidifiers are what pull the water out of the air, so leave the equipment to us once we're there.
